Shanghai world cup stage 4
Here we are again!
Shanghai day one.
We flew from Auckland to hong kong and then to shanghai, al in the space of about 15 hours. Minor but heated and animated (more animation coming later) disagreement on the plane between two passengers and a couple of stewards had to come and calm them down, something to do with someone not putting their seat back up at meal time. Woke up to the pilot saying we had missed the cyclone. Good oh. Apart from that we got here about lunchtime without any hassle. Trying to stay awake is the hardest thing, we immediately stepped into the heat, and then took a walk around the block to establish what was about. Discussions on whether the hotel is better than the other one we stayed at last year concluded that last years was epic, and the chocolate fondue fountain is sorely missed by all team members. Needless to say everything in this hotel is lovely, push buttony and the bed is comfy...
Managed to lock myself in the bathroom Today too. Steph had to unlock it from the outside, lucky she was in the room at the time! Lunch and dinner are in the Chinese restaurant, buffet style. We rock up for lunch and off to the side of the restaurant is an aquarium! How cute... But wait, the crabs, frogs, fish and other sea life have a price on them, you choose the one you want and they will cook it up for you. Not really my cup of tea, the frogs looked a bit bony to be honest. And unhappy although I cant think why.
Took me all afternoon to unpack, shower and we checked out the swimming pool areas and the gym. Disappointed that the gym is right beside the recreation room and is all glass/ see-through so everyone can watch you do a work out. Might do some stuff in my room, or get up super early...one day.
Swimming pool looks nice too, so will venture into that tomorrow. Wireless Internet in the lobby only, cabled in the rooms which is not very helpful for an iPad is it!! So I will make daily trips downstairs to the expensive coffee place and update you.
Dinnertime. By this time we are all feeling a little jaded, and of course the conversation becomes jaded also. Needless to say, we have established that a spoon is not a spoon, it is in fact the loch ness monster ( there was your animation part two) or a wakeboarder. When the crocodile came into the picture, we decided on loch ness monster. It wasn't funny, and here we are splitting our sides, I had tears running down my face, and there was nothing in our drinks I promise you.
I have come to the conclusion that I am tired. Going to put myself to bed. Tomorrow we might go to the other hotel and gaze at the fondue...
