Almost time to head home
well I missed out on the details of the teams event sorry. In the womens there were 4 teams, USA, Canada, Australia and ourselves, in that order for ranking. We had to head off USA to make the gold medal match, but it wasnt to be this time, so we went into the bronze match against Australia, whom lost to Canada for the other placing. AU took the first set, and then jokingly I said them that it would be the last match they won today... and we pulled out the next 3 matches to be 6-2 up. All we needed was a draw to nail the bronze and of course they came back to make it a draw 6-6 and take the match thru to a shoot off. One arrow each, adrenalin pumping, we lost the match by one arrow. Gutted.
The following day we went to the finals and watched USA and Canada for gold medal. USA won. The finals were played at lindquist stadium, a baseball stadium which you can see in the gallery. Next day we went into Salt lake city and had a look at the Mormon temple and around it, went to the Apple store - the only one in 4 states, so you can imagine how busy it was and then back to ogden for the finals. The finals went on til late, 11pm then a fireworks display. The next day everyone left except us, and we had a day off. We headed to the Airplane Museum, dave got used to driving the van, and we got back and had a quiet evening.
For the past 2 days we have been in a senimar with Dave Cousins, hearing all about his knowledge and experience and trying different things. It has been good to have that focussed time to look at the gear, learn more about what we need to know, and get to know his way of thinking.
So, we pack in the morning, and head home tomorrow, landing on friday. I will be glad to be away from the heat for a while, it is really draining, but most of all I want my own bed, and to start planning for Shanghai in 2 weeks time. I miss home!
