Croatia - World Cup Stage 1
Finally we reached Porec yesterday (friday) and pretty much ate, and went to bed.
My trip started a bit quicker than I anticipated: My bow sight got lost by NZ Post when it was couriered back to me on Monday. They said it had been mis-sorted in waikato mail centre and could not be allocated until it was scanned again. We figured it would not likely get to New Plymouth before i left on Thursday, so I had to get organised and fly to Auckland a day earlier and get a new sight setup on my bow. This is the non-stressful version of events, I can confirm it freaked me out and was the last thing I needed to happen. However teh good news was that John sorted me out with his one, and I got to spend some time catching up with my Auntie overnight, which was really good.
Thursday was a day of getting thru customs etc and waiting for the flight to Singapore. Steph, Anne Tony & myself took this route to Croatia, and Stephen & Shaun headed out via LA on Friday night. We were almost boarding then I got a text from work, my sight had turned up finally! Craig took it to the courier depot and got it up to Auckland for Shaun to bring over. Along with running the business while I am away, the guys also had the ability to help me with this issue as well, and I am really grateful to them for being such an amazing support. Thank you. Stepped on the plane and 10 hours later arrived in Singapore.
We had about 4.5 hours in Singapore and I had managed an hour or so sleep on the plane. We thought we were catching up with the Australian team in Singapore but as they werent wearing Gold & green we didnt spot them. Time went pretty slowly there, we found some kids colouring in areas and steph & I went to work. You can see pictures of our creations in the gallery... yes bored!!
Got on bigger plane to Frankfurt, and slept about 8 of the 12 hours on this one. What a result, I was determined not to look at the clock until I absolutely had to, and there was only 4 hours left. I was sitting next to some elderly ladies and they were all lovely, and we chatted, I watched a movie and finally we landed. Yay, the biggest flying times are overwith.
Waiting in Frankfurt for about 2.5 hours, went to McDonalds, and caught up with the Ozzies. I dont have much recollection of this flight actually, but it was only 1hr 20 to Zagreb where we anxiously awaited to see if our luggage had arrived. Phew it was all there.
It was exciting to finally be in Croatia, even though we had another flight to go. When we checked in at Domestic they tried to get us to pay for overweight bags, but we managed to sweet talk our way out of that!
Finaly after a few hours (the time escapes us by this point) we get on a small plane just like home. Carole is nowhere to be seen. She was supposed to be meeting us at Zagreb and had apparently checked in, but she hadnt materialised. So we all boarded the plane and heard of a delay for some paperwork.. 10 mins later Carole boarded the plane, and we headed to Pula, via another small airport. Then a 30 minute drive to Porec and finally we are here...
