India - Day 4 - Ranking Round
This round is at 70m, and we shoot 72 arrows. The end result places you for the all important match play elminiations tomorrow. There is 'theoretically' no pressure on you on this round, but I have to admit I was nervous, especially after 2 ends I was coming last. I was shooting like rubbish, and I didnt know where to start to fix it. I managed to climb up a bit to 20th at the half way stage, and then I took some deep breaths and dug in for the second half. This paid off and I ended up 6th in the second half, but overall 16th. Steph did great coming 11th and Anne as well 19th and Barb came in at 23rd. We really all didnt kick off the day so great, but I think its fair to say that we all gained confidence as we went on. Unfortunately none of us hit the qualifying score, in fact only the top 4 people surpassed it, so maybe this is evidence of a challenging day for all.
Its really hard when you think you are a semi-consistent archer, but then you go thru these times of being up and down. The wind was a challenge, it wasnt really hard, it was gusty, but also swirled around. One minute you have a group, the next you dont, the next they are all high and so on. Shooting 50,51 and 54s and balancing them out with 58's is not ideal shooting!
This is also where they ranked the teams, and we ended up 4th in this, and go up against Malaysia tomorrow afternoon to decide who goes thru to the medal matches. The individual matchplays take place tomorrow morning and we are all looking forward to getting these underway also.
No dogs on the field today, that was a bonus!
