Bronze Medal for Steven Clifton!

Steve once again defines NZ history by grabbing the Bronze medal in the World Champs this week.

Steve was up against Reo Wilde to determine who would go into the gold medal match, and Reo really didnt give an inch, but Steve held is own, and got himself into the bronze match, here's the official report:

Today in Ulsan, Korea New Zealand archery history was made when Stephen Clifton from Auckland won the Bronze medal in the men's compound division.

The semi final match in the morning was very tough. Steve was up against the number one seed, Reo Wilde from USA, a former world champion and someone shooting at the top of his form.
Reo shot first and the arrows were 10-10-10 to Steve's 9-9-10.
In all the American dropped only one point scoring 119 from a possible 120. Steve had a very good effort but against that kind of shooting it is difficult to win.
However Steve's final 3 arrows were 10-10-10 and that set him up for the Bronze medal match against Duo of Spain.

Steve shot first with a 10 which was matched by the Spaniard. But after 3 arrows Steve was 2 points behind. That spurred him to greater efforts and as he shot 10s the Spaniard shot an 8 and also a 9. Steve's final end of 10-10-10 clinched the match 117-114.

Steve - superb effort we are proud of what you have achieved, well done!
