Official Practise Day - 1st Sept
Today was official practise day and we headed off to the grounds for our afternoon session. The sun was out which was a change from the past few days, but yet again the wind persevered and is a daily challenge.
It was great to be able to shoot on the field we are shooting on for the next few days, so we can get a sense of what we can expect. The grounds are pretty amazing, they are custom-built solely for archery, it is an international archery training ground, and the facilities are immense, big screen tv's everywhere, stadium seating behind the line, and tents outside the front doors promoting all the archery dealers and Ulsan itself, so when we get a day off I will be looking (without my credit card).
Tomorrow is the ranking round, which means we're on the 7.30am bus to the range (it takes 30-40 minutes to get there) and will be there for the whole day. If it is anything like Shanghai and Antalya it will be a long day, til 6pm-ish. The shoot is 144 arrows each, we dont have any idea on which target we are shooting on as yet.
Its hard to get your head around the fact that this is the biggest archery event in the world, and I'm here. This competition has been going every two years since 1931, and I feel pretty lucky to be a part of it. I hope I can do well tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to getting into it. Its time!
