Leaving China

I'm sorry China, I wont miss you. Might miss the fondue tho.

Most of the team left for Singapore on an early flight, leaving most of the day in Singapore, whereas Barb & I had somehow gotten the later flight with only an hour in transit. We thought this was cool, until our shanghai flight was delayed at least an hour!  Wondered if we'd make it to the next one, we'll we'd wait & see. Anne tried to call our bluff by saying that the flight we'd all been booked on was leaving early!!

4 hours later we land in Singapore, and there's a lady at the gate calling out 'Auckland, anyone to Auckland?' so we grab her, she grabs us & dumps us on the golf cart to whizz us off to the other terminal. We had no guarantees about whether we would get there or not, or whether our luggage would, but Singapore Airlines are efficient! we ducked & dived and waved like royalty as we whizzed past the crowds, it was hilarious, ran in to the flight gate & just boarded the plane. Wow.

After some sleep, and som 9.5 hours we landed in Auckland and I can advise the air here is beautful! Just sucking up the fresh air was fantastic and put a huge smile on my face. Managed to do another shifty and brought our flights forward to NP (as they were calling the boarding we were just getting to the desk to try & get on the plane!) and rushed to the gate to just make yet another flight. We are sitting there & then it was delayed due to luggage weight issues, so we could have wandered down in the end.

Needless to say getting home was just fantastic. Flying into NP, coming home, and seeing my own bed, having a shower and some normal food was great, catching up with De and my family was great, as long as I held my head up!

Farewell fondue, until next time...
